The book More Activities that Teach by Tom Jackson is a must for every middle or high school teacher. It adds learning activities to lesson plans that help spice up your classes! Our county recently added 'Character Education' to our curriculum, and the activities in Jackson's book emphasize good character traits. These activites help build self-esteem, promote honesty and test a student's decision-making process. A 'must-have' book for educators. It also promotes the thought-making process for teachers to come up with their own games and activities.

A Great Tool!

I am a Case Manager for a non-profit organization that works with "at-risk" youth in our community. We use this book as one of our many tools for our life skills presentations. It has been a great asset in our many activities. The children, adolescents, parents,adults and administators have responded VERY well to the activities in this book. I strongly recommend it for anyone who does presentations or group activities.

Fun activities that teach!

I have used the activities within this book to supplement lessons on building teams, working collaboratively, decision making and leadership with groups of high schools and college students. Group activities are not something most students enjoy but this book and the activities within really made a difference. They had a lot of fun, and the discussions after each activity were very insightful. There are a total of 82 lesson plans on a variety of subjects. Each lesson plan is identified through a topic area, the concept is explained, and it also spells out the time and materials needed followed by a detailed summary of the activity. At the end of each lesson plan you will find discussion ideas. Great book!
