More complex than it credits Itself.

Collecting 8 different runs of the character, Trent Kaniuga's CREED Omnichronos is well over 400 pages of story and 70 pages of extras (covers, sketches). It's not printed at standard graphic novel size; it's a little smaller dimensionally than I'd expected, but I had no trouble reading the print. Some stories (a few which were originally printed in color) are printed in black and white while the final series are printed in color. This collection is also missing the CreeD / Ninja Turtles crossover issue, which is referenced within the pages as the first appearance of a minor villain, but that's neither here nor there.

The concept was originally conceived an first written & drawn by Kaniuga at age 16 and was published about that same time. It's a story about a kid maybe that same age. Maybe, in some respects, even the author; maybe it's a little about myself a little at that age. If the story is as smart as I'd like to give it credit it's an allegory: Mark is growing up and distances himself from the real world by focussing on the world within his own mind. He knows, though, that even the world of his dreams is imperfect and is, in fact, being over-run. He rules the world within his mind, but, just as much, he's at its mercy. If the story is not intended as an allegory or if the reader prefers not to read it philosophically, it's still a well drawn 'comic' with fun stories.

Kaniuga's lines blend graffiti and manga styles in a very successful way. His layouts and panel use is are easy to follow and, throughout the volume, his use of design elements improve and becomes very strong.

I thoroughly enjoyed the individual stories, the broader story told throughithe succession of series, and the over-arcing themes of internal conflict, growth, and understanding.

I have been using CMSmadesimple (CMSMS) for 5 years or so. It's a very robust CMS (content management system) that is quite easy to learn in a basic way. To get more out of CMSMS though you need to know a bit more than you can easily pick up from just using the application, visiting the WIKI and user forums.

This book is exactly what a user new to CMSmadesimple would need to jump-start the learning experience. A web developer with more experience but no experience specifically with CMSmadesimple or the Smarty templating engine would also benefit from this book. But this book is not a reference book for CMSmadesimple. Rather it is a guided approach to learning the basics, and then some, of CMSmadesimple.

The author makes ample use of screenshots along the way. The code snippets are available from the publishers website, which is fortunate since no CD accompanies the book.

There are not many books dealing with CMSmadesimple and I was thrilled to find one that covered all the essentials in an easy to digest way. I'd highly recommend this to anyone contemplating the building of a website with CMSmadesimple. It will greatly enhance your early experiences with the application and explain some of the concepts that even I didn't have a firm grasp on until reading the book. In particular, the brief but helpful discussion of how the Smarty templating engine works is indispensable information.

I can't think of a better introduction to CMSmadesimple. I wish I'd had this book 5 years ago. It would have accelerated my learning greatly. And as an aside, if you are using WordPress to build websites but blogging is not your primary focus for the website, give CMSmadesimple a good look. It is really slick, has an active user forum and is continually undergoing development.

A great way to come to grips with CMSMS!

I echo what others have said here, although titled 1.6 and we are now at version 1.9, there is little in the book that isn't still 100% relevant. The book is 'must' if you intend to work with CMSMS. Once I have set up a site for a client I always urge them to buy a copy.

It might be helpful if the author added a page to her website detailing any changes in 1.9.x I've only so far noticed the forms module info isn't correct now.

BTW There is mention above of version 2.x, I believe that the dev team at CMSMS have formally ceased work on that and intend to continue adding to the current 1.x branch.

For a more detailed book on the workings of CMSMS I can also highly recommend "CMS made Simple Development Cookbook" recently published by Packs, also available at Amazon.

The book is just ok because it's totally outdated now ...

The book is just ok because it's totally outdated now, many codes are no longer valid. Until chapter 7 you cab still use it but then.
Some modules are no longer offered, and chapter 9, the E-commerce is a mess. The author wanted to go through very fast and the result is that nothing is clear anymore.

This book is AMAZING! After reading, and loving The Infamous Ellen James, I had no idea how N.A. Alcorn was going to top it. But holy hell, she freaking did! In the Infamous Ellen James, you're introduced to Trent's superhero c*ck, and I was in a book boyfriend fog for days. I didn't think Trent could be replaced, but you better believe I fell so hard for James! He is no Robin to Trent's Batman. He's like the Hulk, Superman, and Captain America all rolled into one big ball of sexy manhood! And Amy? She's just as hilarious as Ellen. Do not miss out on this series! You'll be swooning, crying, and doubled over laughed on every single page!!

This is N.A. Alcorn's 2nd book in the Infamous Series... I loved The Infamous Ellen James and wondered how N.A. would top that one... but man, she knocked this one out of the park!! This book needs to come with a warning... Do not read while in bed with your SO while they are trying to go to sleep... I literally woke mine up shaking the bed laughing one minute then sobbing like a little girl the next.. this book took me on a emotional roller coaster and I loved it.. Amy is a smart mouth, sarcastic ER nurse that doesn't date...she is proud of her one night stands and meaningless sex... until.....James Williams..the cocky orthopedic surgeon...he is the most patient swoon worthy man EVER....he just gets Amy's personality and sense of humor...Amy had a tragedy happen in her life and she has shut out any possibility of having a relationship with a man because of it....she hides her pain with sarcasm and sex...Can James break down those walls and show her how worthy she is of love??? You have to read this book to find out, and I highly suggest that you do... Avoiding Amy Jackson is one of my top 2 favorite reads of all time, The Infamous Ellen James being the other...I can not wait for more from N.A. Alcorn, it doesn't matter what I am reading, when she puts out a new book I will stop and read hers...I freakin love her sense of humor and story lines......STOP right now and get this book!!! You will not regret it!!!!!!!!!
